Hi, I am Jannis, an editorial photographer from Cologne.

For a long time, I expected my photography to depict reality: to open eyes, to expose injustices, to show truths. And I still believe photography can do all of that.

But at some point, I realized that this is not the only truth I am interested in.

There is already so much conflict, suffering, and noise in the world. What there can never be enough of, however, are small opportunities to escape it for a while — to dream, to long for something, to surrender to beauty, intimacy, and escapism.

And that is what my work is about.

I invite people to briefly forget everyday life and lose themselves, for a moment, in something beautiful.
